The education system of Hong Kong is now undergoing a series of reforms, and curriculum development for secondary schools is one of the widely discussed issues. This seminar aims to discuss the way of promoting literary education in secondary school as well as rising the student's interest in literature. The seminar also explores the teaching method of creative writing; how it can help students to command Chinese language and eventually enhance their writing ability. Dynamic presentation and discussion on the prospects of 21st century science fiction in Chinese Literature, guests will share their views on the "Philosophical and Literary Element" in science fictions, 'Relationship between Literature and Science in 21st century', 'Science¡ÏFantasy¡ÏLiterature?', 'The Climate of Publishing Hong Kong literature and the future direction of science fiction'.

The Love of Reading and Learning (conducted in English and supplemented by Cantonese)

Peter Suart, an English author brought up in Hong Kong and educated in England, will present many themes of his latest children's book The Love of Learning to two groups of students, aged 8-12 and 12-16. He will also introduce the students to other classic books such as Grimm's Fairy Tales, Alice in Wonderland, Tove Jansson's Moomintroll Stories, Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast Trilogy, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, and Greek Myths. He will look at some of the incidents in the books and talk around the issues.
There will also be slides of some of the illustrations. Participants will be asked many questions to provoke thought and to amuse. This sharing session aims at inspiring children's interest in literature, language and imagination. (Reservation: 2820 1097)
Multi-Media Recitation of Modern Poetry (conducted in Cantonese)

Poets and students recite a selection of modern poetry with the aid of multi-media. The recitation includes presentation on modern poetry composed by famous Hong Kong poets with the aid of multi-media and recitation of modern poetry.
Guests include Leung Chi-wah (±ç§ÓµØ), Quanan (±X«n), Tang Siu-wah (¾H¤p¾ì), Wong Leung-wo (¤ý¨}©M), Wong Yan-kwai (¶À¤¯¶f), XXX (¶¼¦¿), Yuen Siu-cheong (°K¥ü©÷) and 20 emerging poets.
Meet-the-Authors (conducted in Cantonese)
Renowned authors are invited to share their feelings and writing experience with the readers. The meetings are carried out in a free atmosphere and comfortable environment.
