Competition

The adjudication of the pre-festival activities including the following three competitions were held in April and May. Prizes will be presented to the winners at the Opening Ceremony of the 4th Hong Kong Literature Festival on 22nd June, 2002.

1. Literary Webpage Design Competition
In the era of information explosion, literature is no longer restricted to the text. It can be incorporated into other means of media and then generate a new style of presentation. With unlimited imagination and creativity, participants may apply their innovative ideas on classical literary works by using internet and multi-media.

The competition is divided into secondary section and public section. The participants have to design a website in which the contents should be based on a piece of classical Chinese literature published on or before 1949.

2. Literary Performance Competition for Students
Contestants from primary and secondary schools competed through various forms of presentation such as story-telling, dramatization, singing and dancing to express the essence of literary works written by Hong Kong authors. There were 120 school representatives participating in the Competition.

3. "Hong Kong Portraits" Writing Competition
The Competition is divided into two categories : the Student and Open categories. Entrant is required to submit a piece of literary work either in the form of story, poem or prose together with a photograph for the Competition. The content of the literary work should be related to the photograph submitted. Winning entries will be displayed in the Hong Kong Central Library during the festival period.
