ABOUT HKLF

The Hong Kong Literature Festival is now in its fourth year already! The first Hong Kong Literature Festival, held for the first time from 4th to 11th January 1997, provided a variety of literary activities for the public during eight festive days. This year, the Festival (now on its fourth year) runs from 22nd June to 14th July 2002 over a total of 23 days. During this period, the Festival will offer up to 10 categories of programmes with more than 40 events. Aside from extending the duration of the festival period, this is the first time the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department are joining hands in hosting the Festival. Another encouraging 'plus' of this year's programme is the involvement of local communities in the planning and production of some of the Festival events - a vivid demonstration of the collaborating efforts behind OUR Festival this year.

The theme of Literature Festival this year is "Literary Interaction in the New Era". The term 'New Era' is self-explanatory; then what is 'Interactive'? 'Interactive' can refer to numerous possibilities, ranging from the interaction between people (exchange among authors, audience and critics), or between objects (different media), or even between time and space (looking in retrospect and projecting the future). No matter what is its interpretation, your participation will definitely be impetus interaction!
